About This Tool
So, you’ve got a document, an email, or maybe a blog post you’re trying to keep under a certain word count. Or maybe you’re just curious how long that rambling paragraph really is. That’s where a word counter comes in—simple, no-nonsense, and oddly satisfying to use. This isn’t some flashy app with ten thousand features. It’s just a tool that counts words. And characters. And sometimes sentences and paragraphs, if you’re into that kind of thing. No login required. No ads popping up every three seconds. You paste your text, it gives you the numbers. Done. I’ve used a bunch of these over the years—some clunky, some over-engineered. This one? It just works. And honestly, that’s all I really want.Key Features
- Instant word count – Paste your text and see the count immediately. No waiting, no spinning wheels.
- Character count (with and without spaces) – Handy when you're hitting Twitter limits or filling out forms that care about every single keystroke.
- Sentence and paragraph breakdown – Useful if you’re editing or trying to tighten up your writing.
- Works offline – Once it’s loaded, you don’t need the internet. Great for working in planes, trains, or places with spotty Wi-Fi.
- No data stored – Your text doesn’t get saved, tracked, or sent anywhere. It’s private. Just you and your words.
- Mobile-friendly – Works on your phone just as well as on your laptop. No zooming around trying to tap tiny buttons.
FAQ
Does it count hyphenated words as one or two?
It counts them as one word. So “state-of-the-art” is one word, not four. That’s how most style guides treat them, so we stuck with that.
What about numbers or symbols?
Numbers like “2026” or “3.14” count as words. Symbols like “@” or “#” by themselves don’t. It’s not perfect, but it’s consistent. If you’re writing a novel, you’re probably fine. If you’re coding, maybe double-check.
